Back Boris 2012
In less than 11 month's time Londoners will go to the polls to elect their Mayor for London. It is a crucial election that will decide whether London carries on moving forward under Boris Johnson or is dragged backward under Labour's Ken Livingstone.
For those of you in London, you will be all too aware of the battle - already playing your part in the campaign to keep City Hall Conservative. For those across the country, who campaigned so tirelessly to produce the recent successes in the local elections, it may not have crossed your radar yet. If not, today is the day to get involved.
It will be a difficult and hard fought election. From now until 3 May 2012, Ed Miliband, Mr Livingstone and their union paymasters will throw every resource they have into taking back control of our capital before using that as a launch pad for taking back control of No. 10. This is a call to arms to stop them in their tracks by joining the campaign to back Boris.
Boris Johnson has a proud record as Mayor of London - but he needs your help. Whether you live in London or on the furthest shores of Britain - you can play a crucial role, from calling potential voters, to making a donation or spreading the word through the internet.
London has already come a long way with Boris as Mayor. He has:
- Frozen his share of Council tax three years running - compared with Ken Livingstone's 153 per cent rise.
- Delivered a 'blueprint for policing' putting 1,000 more police on the streets, cutting crime by almost 9 per cent, with robberies down 20 per cent, and youth crime 15 per cent. By May next year there will be 1 million more patrols in London every year compared to May 2008 when Boris was elected.
- Put 500 more police officers on London's transport network, driving down crime by up to 30 per cent.
- Fought for and secured Crossrail and the Tube upgrade - the biggest investment in transport in 80 years.
- Delivered Olympic venues on time and under budget, securing a proper legacy for London - on target to create 20,000 apprenticeships.
These are major achievements but the job isn't finished. So log on to the campaign website - www.backboris2012.com - to volunteer, donate and support Boris Johnson's campaign to be re-elected as Mayor of London, and ensure four more proud years in City Hall.
